History Repeats
For this project, I analyzed ancient Greek culture and mythology. I was drawn to this particular part of Greek history because of how large and vastly known it is to everybody because I believe that anyone can name three Greek gods or goddesses, but I think it is way harder for them to think of myths that they were a part of. From this, I started to think of Greek culture and how easily one part has affected the other and I want to research more about that cause and effect on a different part of Greek culture and mythology. Since this was synthesis, I also looked into American Politics, specifically, the constitution, the 20th century, and world events. With these stark topics, I want to analyze how evolved the Ancient Greeks were in culture, philosophy, and technology and compare it to how American politics, no matter how far evolved we are, how our roots still are ancient and unruly.
HistoryWith my original idea of sticking with American politics and myself falling down the rabbit hole of immigrants in the Italian American dream, I really had to take a step back and really brought in my research a little bit. In order to not just meet the standards of my class, and to really gain perspective on my project, I looked at the Bill of Rights. The amendments that were made in order to protect every United States citizen seemed a little out of place in my project, at first. As I delved deeper into the Bill of Rights, I realized how some of the amendments that each citizen has, some of which have rendered themselves useless or abused. In turn, in order to protect the citizens of the 20th/21st century, I decided to write a newsletter for the general public about whether or not some amendments should stay or go.

EnglishFirst started on this project, I immediately ran to my English teacher. I had said I had no idea what I was going to do for this portion of my project, but luckily he stopped me in my tracks when he pulled up a Shakespearean monolog. What's in this monologue was stressed and unstressed syllables that had really spoken to the pattern of a eulogy should be. As I kept researching Greek tragedies and the Italian American story, I realized my eulogy shouldn't Celebrate the life of a fallen one, the anger behind the fact that death has had yet another grip on another person. I really didn't stick to the iambic A murder of The Shakespearean pattern oh, but I really tried to emulate the drama and passion behind all of his places. This eulogy’s a speech of anger and hatred for the disgraced and racial Prejudice of the American dream and what people have to do in order to survive.

During the course of my project, I really took a lot of different turns as I kept being inspired and indecisive. luckily however it just took one Google search to really change my entire idea. I had stumbled across the Sicilian lynching of New Orleans in 1891. For America, this was just another racial prejudice attack against Italian-Americans in the United States, for Italian-Americans color set the stage for what America had to be for them. As I was reading upon article upon an article regarding racial prejudice against Italian American immigrants in the United States, the more articles that occurred I realized I had fallen into a Greek tragedy of life. Recently, I had read the 12 labors of Hercules and began to study and immerse myself in Greek culture and mythology. As I was doing so and correlating between the Italian American story in the story of Hercules I realized how close they were in relation and in trauma. To attempt to honor the fallen heroes, I created a surrealistic collage scrapbook that tells a story of a Sicilian Italian-American coming to the United States and dealing with labor after Labor in order to survive, but being relieved of their duty to protect not just themselves but they're people in death.
